Kanan Baking Company wants to feel like your artisan neighborhood bakery, even if you live nowhere near them. They are single-mindedly focused on bringing incredible fresh bread to everyone, by delivering it nationwide right to your door, or a nearby retailer.
We partnered with the company during a name transition to rebrand and redesign their bread packaging. The results – a brand voice that feels warm and a little SoCal, and bread packaging design that’s approachable, bold, and equal parts artisanal and everyday.

Embracing the brand’s transparency, knowledge, and passion, we developed a brand voice that positions the company to feel and sound like a real person, not a large faceless corporation; the reinvented voice is more approachable, warm, and human, better reflecting their company.
The logo design celebrates Kanan’s delivery process and HQ, and pairs with large playful circular spans of color, reminiscent of pockets in a delicious airy baked bread. The color palette nods at a Californian sky, and the simplicity of the packaging architecture delivers information quickly and efficiently on a transparent bag where the beautiful textures of the breads are on display.
The family-owned company offers product development, and both a fresh and frozen bread program. You can shop online or find their bread nationwide at popular retailers, including Target and Costco.
Kanan has over 90+ clean label, preservative free bread products to choose from, celebrates a 94% on-time delivery rating, and uses 40 tons of flour a week serving 5200+ locations nationwide. Now that’s a lot of bread.
