When the founders of Grenius — Dr. TJ and Evie, Founder of Copow Foods came to Design Womb with a doctor-formulated nootropic and adaptogen sparkling beverage, the brief was clear. Build a brand that leads with real science, big personality, and CPG packaging design that demands attention without looking like anything else on shelf.

We delivered the full brand build — naming, brand strategy, brand voice, identity system, and packaging design across sparkling cans and instant drink mix stick packs.

The design challenge was striking the right balance: clinical enough to communicate doctor-formulated credibility, fun enough to signal that this drink is actually delicious. Rather than follow the wave of bold, hyper-colorful beverage packaging dominating shelves at the time, we went the opposite direction — a clean white canvas that reads different the moment you see it. And instead of the now-familiar founder portrait approach, we pushed the concept further: a caricature.

The mascot is based on Dr. TJ, one of the founders — a functional medicine practitioner with two doctoral degrees and the kind of larger-than-life personality that translates perfectly into bold black and white line art. The caricature format captures his real energy, communicates one of the serious brains behind the brand. Each custom illustration puts Dr. TJ in motion — on a bike, holding a stopwatch, standing in his lab coat — directly connecting the visual to the functional benefit inside each can.

Bask in our drinktelligence

Flavor and function work together through a color-coded badge system: each SKU carries its own benefit colorway — pink for nootropic-powered focus, orange for vitamin-powered energy, sage green for nootropic-powered chill — communicating what's inside at a glance without cluttering the pack. The system extends seamlessly into instant drink mix stick packs and retail display boxes, built for undeniable shelf blocking at retail and ecommerce alike. Clinical, playful, and impossible to miss.
